7Artisans has introduced the INFINTE 65mm T2.9 2x Macro, a full-frame cinema lens designed for Nikon Z, Canon RF, and Sony E mounts. It offers a fast T2.9 maximum aperture, a 2:1 magnification ratio, and a close focus distance of just 17cm (6.7in), giving filmmakers the ability to capture fine detail and lifelike close-ups. Plus, itβs only $499! Letβs look at this new edition to the line.
Not long ago we looked at the 24-96mm T2.9 Super35 Cine Zoom lens from the 7Artisans Sprite series. Now, the company has added a new 65mm macro lens to their INFINTE range. The lineup already features 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 105mm, and 135mm full-frame primes, and with the 65mm, the series now offers both standard focal lengths and options for close-up photography.
Optical and design details
The lens uses extra-low dispersion, high-refractive index, and aspherical elements to keep aberrations under control and maintain sharpness. Its T2.9 aperture offers depth-of-field flexibility in low light, while the 9-blade iris produces smooth, rounded bokeh.
With a long 330Β° focus rotation, the manual design is built for precision, and its geared focus and iris rings integrate smoothly with follow-focus systems. The 82mm filter thread and 90mm front diameter accommodate matte boxes and filters, making it practical for both handheld and rig-based setups.
