
After teasing what’s about to come a few weeks ago, Antigravity, a new drone brand incubated by Insta360 and third-party collaborators, has announced its first product: the Antigravity A1. The company positions the A1 as the world’s first all-in-one drone capable of capturing 8K 360-degree video without the need for an external camera attachment. According to the company, the Antigravity A1 8K 360 Drone is designed to merge high-resolution immersive capture with a simplified, gesture-based flight control experience.
At the core of the A1 is a dual-lens optical system, with one lens mounted above the fuselage and the other below. This top-and-bottom configuration allows for full environmental coverage with no blind spots. Advanced image stitching technology processes footage in real time to remove the drone’s body from view, producing clean, uninterrupted 360 imagery when viewed in the Vision goggles or during playback.
This stitching process is key to the “invisible drone” effect. It enables pilots and viewers to feel fully immersed in the aerial perspective without the distraction of propellers or drone structure appearing in frame.
It’s going to be interesting to see how “seamless” the stitching will really be if you fly closer to objects, since there is quite a gap between the two lenses.

Immersive flight controls
The A1’s flight system has been designed around Antigravity’s “FreeMotion” technology. This separates the pilot’s viewing direction from the drone’s flight path, a departure from traditional FPV systems. Using the included Vision goggles, pilots can freely look in any direction via head tracking, while controlling movement through the Grip controller.
The Grip controller looks almost exactly like DJI’s Motion Controller, which I reviewed as part of the first look review of the DJI FPV drone in 2021. I expect it to work also very similarly.
Instead of conventional dual-stick controls, the Grip responds to natural hand movements, allowing the pilot to direct the drone intuitively. This approach aims to reduce the learning curve for new users while expanding creative possibilities for experienced operators. The separation of view and trajectory means a pilot can, for example, look to the side while continuing to fly forward — an approach that can open up new styles of aerial storytelling.

Post-production flexibility
The 8K resolution capture is intended to give creators substantial reframing latitude in post-production. Since every angle is recorded, editors can select multiple perspectives from the same flight, output in different aspect ratios, and apply creative effects without losing quality. The feature set mirrors Insta360’s X Series capabilities — such as Tiny Planet, horizon flips, and cinematic FPV-style moves — but now applies them to drone footage.
For content creators, this means a single recording session can yield multiple deliverables, optimised for various platforms, from widescreen YouTube edits to vertical social media formats.
I have to admit, the launch video is mighty impressive and really showcases in a perfect way what’s possible if you don’t actually have to get the perfect shot in flight already. Let’s see how it will really work in practice, we’re definitely curious.


Lightweight design and safety features
With a take-off weight of 249g, the A1 meets sub-250g regulatory thresholds in most regions, often allowing for license-free operation. Its compact form factor is designed for quick packing, carrying, and deployment, appealing to travelling filmmakers as well as casual users.
The A1 includes several built-in safety measures. A return-to-home function can automatically bring the drone back to its starting point, and a payload detection system is designed to prevent misuse or unauthorised modifications, probably in an effort to prevent usage of the drones in war zones and potentially avoid similar issues that DJI is currently facing in the US.

Early access program and launch timeline
Antigravity plans to launch the A1 globally in January 2026. Pricing, bundle configurations, and detailed regional availability will be confirmed closer to the release date.
In advance of launch, the company has opened applications for its first co-creation project. Selected participants will receive a pre-production A1 unit to test and evaluate, with the goal of refining the product before it reaches the market. Creators are encouraged to submit their ideas for potential integration into the final retail model. A total reward pool of US$20,000 will be shared among contributors whose suggestions are adopted.
