Hollyland Pyro 5 Added to the Series Lineup: All-In-One Monitor with HD Display, Camera Control and More

Hollyland has added the Pyro 5 to their Pyro Series lineup, featuring a compact 5.5-inch wireless monitor designed to simplify workflows on film sets, live events, and other collaborative, multi-user productions. The Pyro 5 combines a sharp display, camera control, live transmission, and content management in one device. With features like proxy recording and smart content tagging, it should make post-production faster and less complex. Here’s a closer look.

Lately, we’ve been looking at Hollyland’s audio lineup, reviewing wireless microphone systems like the LARK A1 Compact Wireless, designed for content creators and vloggers, and the LARK MAX 2 with 32-bit float, on-board TC, and four-TX Support, which we also covered on the CineD podcast. With the Pyro 5, the focus shifts from audio to monitoring, adding a compact 5.5-inch screen and wireless tools aimed at collaborative workflows.

Display and connectivity

The Pyro 5 has a 5.5-inch, 1920×1080 touchscreen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and weighs only about 0.69 kg (1.52 lbs). It’s bright at 1500 nits, has wireless transmission, proxy recording, and built-in camera control. The display stays clear outdoors, and dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz support should help maintain a steady connection even in busy areas. The Pyro 5 also features a “Ready Out of the Box” plug-and-play design for quick setup and different power options for added flexibility and reliability.

With HDMI and SDI loop-out, the monitor fits smoothly into different setups. In addition, built-in tools like waveform, focus assist, 3D LUTs, and zebra patterns should help crews make quick, informed decisions on set without having to rely on extra gear.

Multi-camera setups

As with all the monitors in the Pyro series, the Pyro 5 lets you send one signal to up to four receivers simultaneously, so your team can stay in sync. It automatically finds the best frequency to keep the signal steady up to 400m (1300 ft) line-of-sight, with latency as low as 50 ms for accurate real-time monitoring. The Multi-Cam Switching lets you switch between camera groups quickly, and Lock Pairing helps avoid interference when several systems are in use on the same set.
