Insta360 GO Ultra Announced: a Tiny 4K Pocket Camera with Serious Upgrades

Insta360 has introduced the GO Ultra, the latest addition to its GO Series. The company promises significant advancements in imaging performance while retaining the hallmark portability of the line.

The Insta360 GO Ultra builds on the popularity of its predecessors by combining a larger sensor, AI-powered imaging, and longer runtimes with the same tiny, wearable form factor that defined the series. With hands-free mounting options, microSD storage, and a waterproof design, Insta360 positions the camera as a versatile tool for creators, athletes, families, and travelers alike.

Insta360 Co-Founder and VP of Marketing Max Richter explained the approach: “GO Ultra takes the advancements made with the Ace and X series cameras, and puts them into the type of compact, pocket camera our GO Series creators enjoy, opening up new creative opportunities without sacrificing portability.”

Larger sensor and AI chip for improved imaging

At the core of the GO Ultra is a 1/1.28” sensor—221% larger than that of its predecessor—paired with a new 5nm AI chip. This combination enables 4K60fps recording, Active HDR, and low-light enhancements through the company’s PureVideo mode, which applies AI-driven noise reduction and brightness improvements. A new ambient light sensor also helps reduce flickering and adjusts colors in real time.

Portability and mounting options

The camera weighs just 53g, roughly the size of a smartwatch or a cookie, and features a built-in magnetic base. This design allows it to attach to metallic surfaces and work seamlessly with mounting accessories such as the Magnet Pendant, Pivot Mount, Flexi Strap, and more. Among the expanded lineup of accessories are Sticky Tabs and even a Toddler Titan Hat Clip, broadening the range of use cases.

The GO Ultra is IPX8 waterproof to 10m (33ft), making it suitable for underwater use, and is marketed as versatile enough for everything from family gatherings to BMX rides.

Hands-free shooting and connectivity

In addition to wearable options like the Magnet Pendant and Magnetic Easy Clip, the camera connects via Bluetooth to the included Action Pod. The Pod offers a 2.5” flip touchscreen, enabling users to monitor shots in real time and even hand the camera to children for a playful perspective.

Cyclists and sports enthusiasts can also integrate data overlays from Strava or third-party devices, including GPS, speed, and heart rate, directly into their recordings.

Power and storage upgrades

Battery performance has been extended compared to earlier models. The standalone unit runs for up to 70 minutes, while pairing it with the Action Pod increases runtime to 200 minutes. Fast charging takes the battery back to 80% in just 12 minutes.

In contrast to the fixed internal memory of the previous GO 3S, the GO Ultra introduces microSD card support, enabling up to 2TB of removable storage. This allows quick card swaps instead of offloading files when space runs out.

Editing and sharing with Insta360 app

The updated Insta360 app on iOS and Android features AI-powered editing tools, offering automatic highlight detection, transitions, effects, and music. Users can also access the new AI Family Moments feature, which organizes footage of loved ones into a dedicated virtual album.

Pricing and availability

The Insta360 GO Ultra is available starting August 21, 2025, through the Insta360 Store, Amazon, and select retailers. The Standard Bundle is priced at $449.99 and includes the GO Ultra (Standalone Camera and Action Pod) in Midnight Black or Arctic White, plus a Quick Release Safety Cord, Magnetic Easy Clip, Magnet Pendant, USB-C cable, and Lens Guard.
